Events
- Pavel Chekov is born in Russia, on Earth, the son of Andrei Chekov. (TOS: "Who Mourns for Adonais?")
- The Battle of Donatu V is fought between Federation and Klingon forces near Sherman's Planet. The battle ends without results. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")
- USS Enterprise is launched from San Francisco Fleet Yards under the command of Captain Robert April and begins the ship's first five-year mission. His wife, Sarah April, is the vessel's CMO. (TAS: "The Counter-Clock Incident")
- Leonard McCoy enters the undergraduate program for medicine at the University of Mississippi. (TAS: "The Pirates of Orion")
- According to the episode, Leonard McCoy becomes a doctor this year. However, he would only be 18 at this time, far too young of an age for an experienced medical professional. More likely, then, this is the year when McCoy begins his studies as a doctor of medicine.
- Emony Dax visits Earth to judge a gymnastics competition at the University of Mississippi, where she meets Leonard McCoy. (DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")
Notes
- The 2245 date for the Enterprise commissioning (sourced from Michael Okuda's Star Trek Chronology) is regarded as fairly definitive, despite clashing with Harry Morrow's rather odd Star Trek III comment of the vessel being 20 years old in 2285 (that comment is in itself faulty, as it precludes the 2250s voyages of Christopher Pike established in TOS: "The Menagerie, Part I" and "The Menagerie, Part II"). The 2245 date is reckoned by using references to the length of Pike's command established in that episode, accounting for additional years for the ship to be commanded by April as established in his appearance.
- Unused material for Jonathan Archer's bio seen in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" stated that he died this year, one day following the christening of the USS Enterprise.
