Aberdeen is an Earth city located in the northeast of Scotland.
Montgomery Scott once referred to himself once as an "old Aberdeen pub-crawler" as well as reminiscing about the "marvelous fogs we have in Aberdeen" while walking with the Argelian Kara. (TOS: "Wolf in the Fold")
Based on Scott's dialog, it is reasonable to assume that this town was Scott's birthplace, or at least a place he had lived at some point.
Some of the cornerstones of the buildings in the Caldos colony were brought there from Aberdeen during the latter half of the 23rd century. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")
City leaders in Aberdeen have put forward plans to erect a monument to James Doohan/Scotty in the city, although there have been no official announcements to date. [1]
