The African Confederation was a political entity on the continent of Africa on the planet Earth. Its member states included Somalia.

Geordi La Forge was born within the Confederation on February 16th, 2335. (TNG: "Cause and Effect")

Details of this Confederation are unknown, as is how it relates to the United States of Africa mentioned in the semi-official biographies of Uhura.
Uhura speaks of having lived in the African Confederation in the Star Trek newspaper comic strip.

The novel Losing the Peace by William Leisner first established Somalia to be part of the Confederation, with Mogadishu now a thriving, peaceful metropolis, and the home city of La Forge's family.
