Captain Amasov was a 24th century Starfleet officer, who served as the commanding officer of the USS Endeavour in the 2360s. Amasov stated in his personal log, "It is my opinion that the Borg are as close to pure evil as any race we've ever encountered." Amasov was known to both Kathryn Janeway and Chakotay.
When studying up on the Borg in late 2373, Captain Janeway researched Captains Amasov's and Jean-Luc Picard's logs of encounters with them. (VOY: "Scorpion")
He was named for Isaac Asimov, famous 20th century science-fiction writer, cybernetics supporter, and friend of Gene Roddenberry.
