The American Revolution (1775 - 1783) was a war that was fought on Earth, during the late 18th century, between Old Britain and her North American colonies. The outcome of the war lead to the creation of the United States of America, with the aid of the countries of France and Spain.
General George Washington was the leader of the rebels that fought for their independence against the British.
The crew of the USS Enterprise were able to observe portions of the American Revolution through the Guardian of Forever in 2267. (TOS: "The City on the Edge of Forever")
In 2366, Kyril Finn, the leader of the Ansata movement on Rutia IV compared his cause to that of the cause Washington fought for during the American Revolution. (TNG: "The High Ground")
