As Matthew Dougherty (1998)

Actor Anthony Zerbe (May 20th, 1936 - ) played Vice Admiral Matthew Dougherty in Star Trek: Insurrection.

Zerbe made his feature film debut in the 1967 classic Cool Hand Luke, which featured two-time TOS guest star Morgan Woodward. In 1970, he co-starred in They Call Me MISTER Tibbs! alongside TOS guest actor Jeff Corey. He then went on to star in the 1973 film Papillon, in which Star Trek: Deep Space Nine guest stars Bill Mumy and Gregory Sierra also starred.

Zerbe's other feature films include The Dead Zone (1983), the James Bond film License to Kill (1989), and 1999's True Crime. He also played Councillor Hamann in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

He also has several television credits to his name. Besides several appearances on Mission: Impossible and Gunsmoke and a recurring role on The Equalizer, he also co-starred with William Shatner in the 1972 made-for-TV adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles. He went on to appear in the 1978 mini-series Centennial. His co-stars on that series included Sally Kellerman, Michael Ansara, Brian Keith, Morgan Woodward, and James Sloyan. In 1986, he was a guest star on another mini-series, North and South, Book II. Joining him for this series were Jonathan Frakes, David Ogden Stiers, Jean Simmons, William Schallert, Kurtwood Smith, and Leon Rippy.

In 1976, Zerbe won an Emmy Award for his performances on the crime series Harry O.
