Outside the nucleus a neutron is relatively unstable. It splits into three particles; a proton, electron and an antineutrino. Antineutrinos have the exact same properties as a neutrino however their spin opposes that of a neutrino. It is unknown if they annihilate when they come into contact with a neutrino.
