Argelius II (lower right corner) on a star chart
Argelius II was the second planet of the Argelius planetary system. The atmosphere was capable of supporting humanoid life-forms. This inhabited planet was the homeworld for the humanoid Argelians. The leader of the planetary government was called the Prefect. Many of the administrative positions in the government were filled by people brought in from other planets. In 2364, the location of Argelius II in relation to the Jewel stars was depicted on a Federation star chart stored in the library computer of the USS Enterprise-D. The planet Alpha Eridani II was on a direct alignment between Argelius II and Earth. (TOS: "Wolf in the Fold"; TNG: "Datalore", "Conspiracy")
The planet was a popular shore leave destination as well as a strategically-important space port for Starfleet in the 2260s. In 2267, the planet was the scene of several murders committed by the entity known as Redjac.
Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Commander Scott both enjoyed several visits on the planet, though Scott was accused of being a murderer during his first visit. (TOS: "Wolf in the Fold")

Background information
According to the The Worlds of the Federation, the star that Argelius II orbits is named Argelius B (apparently part of a binary star system with Argelius A), and the Argelians refer to their world as Nelphia.
The star chart seen in "Datalore" and "Conspiracy" was taken from page 133 of the Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology, where it was explained as showing a part of Federation space in the 2140s, with the thin lines denoting routes of commercial tourist starliners.
