An astronomer was a person who specialized in the field of astronomy.

During the 16th century, Tycho Brahe, a famous astronomer on Earth, lost his nose in a duel over a math equation. (ENT: "The Andorian Incident")

In 1996, Rain Robinson was employed as one of several astronomers at the SETI lab at the Griffith Observatory. (VOY: "Future's End") She later confessed to Tom Paris that the reason why she became an astronomer was because of her brother. According to Robinson, "he had a telescope, a little refractor. You could barely see in the treehouse next door actually, but it was enough to see the rings of Saturn." All she ever wanted since was to "reach up and touch them." (VOY: "Future's End, Part II")

During the mid-21st century, John Burke served as the chief astronomer at the Royal Academy in Old Britain, on Earth. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

Lwaxana Troi once knew an astronomer from Rigel IV who named a star after her. (TNG: "Half a Life")

While observing an astronomical object in the night sky, Ranek described the object to The Doctor, inhabiting Seven of Nine's body, as "to an astronomer, it's simply a pulsar cluster, but our poets call it the 'Window of Dreams'." (VOY: "Body and Soul")
