Groppler Zorn, a Bandi
The Bandi are a humanoid race who inhabit the planet Deneb IV. Their technology is not particularly advanced, and their architecture is surprisingly simple.
Around 2364, some Bandi captured an injured lifeform that could change energy into matter. They nourished it, but only enough so that it was strong enough to use its unique abilities, but too weak to leave the planet. The creature was imprisoned on the planet and became Farpoint Station. Its mate came to Deneb IV to free it. It attacked the nearby Old Bandi City. The USS Enterprise, which was in orbit, realized what was going on and helped it. It and its mate soon left the area.
