Barisa Prime was the inhabited prime planet in the Barisa system. This planet was located near the Federation-Tzenkethi border, and was the site of a Federation colony.
In late 2371, the USS Defiant received a truncated message from Barisa Prime indicating that the colony had been attacked and destroyed by Tzenkethi forces. The transmission was actually fabricated by a Founder posing as Ambassador Krajensky, as part of an attempt to incite war between the Federation and the Tzenkethi. (DS9: "The Adversary")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on the chart "United Federation of Planets I", Barisa Prime was listed as a member planet of the Federation in 2378.
