Edward Emerson Barnard was a 19th century American astronomer, known for discovering the comet 1892 V as well as Barnard's Star. (Star Trek: Enterprise opening credits)

The orbit of the comet 1892 V could be seen on a German map taken from Meyers Konversations-Lexikon. The name Barnard was printed in parentheses after the name of the comet.
