Barry M. Schkolnick (born 2 April 1958; age 65) is a writer who wrote the teleplay for the Star Trek: The Next Generation fifth season episode "Conundrum".

Schkolnick also wrote stories for episodes of Mancuso, FBI (1990, with Christina Pickles, Georgann Johnson, Darwyn Carson, and Ken Jenkins), Street Justice, L.A. Law (1990-1991, with Corbin Bernsen, Larry Drake, Renée Jones, Paul Winfield, Diana Muldaur, Erick Avari, and Rod Arrants), Jake and the Fatman (1991, with Leslie Bevis, Stanley Kamel, Julianna McCarthy, and Ellen Geer), Matlock (1994, with Daniel Roebuck and Erich Anderson and directed by Robert Scheerer), TekWar (1995, created and with William Shatner), Profiler (1999, directed by Richard Compton), and Pensacola: Wings of Gold (1999, with Jay Karnes and developed by Jacqueline Zambrano).

He worked as story editor on L.A. Law (1990-1991) before he joined the production team of the television series Law & Order on which he worked as writer of fourteen episodes between 1993 and 2000 and as story editor and executive story editor between 1995 and 1997. In 1997 he received a Writers Guild of America Award nomination in the category Best Episodic for the episode "Savages" which he shared with Morgan Gendel. In 2010/2011 he received credit as writer of the original material of two episodes of the spin-off series Law & Order: UK.

In more recent years, Schkolnick worked as writer and producer on the television series The Division (2001-2003), The Guardian (2003-2004), Medical Investigation (2004-2005, starring Neal McDonough), In Justice (2006), The Dresden Files (2007), Legend of the Seeker (2008-2009), The Good Wife (2010), and In Plain Sight (2011).
