A baseball card is a card which featured an image and the performance statistics of a player of the Earth sport baseball, which originated in the 19th century. Baseball cards became popular in the 20th century and were typically kept by fans and collectors alike.
By the 24th century, long after the sport's popularity had come to an end, baseball cards had become extremely rare and therefore valuable, especially with the original chewing gum, which was frequently packaged with a set of cards. (DS9: "In the Cards")
