Basil Konstantine Poledouris (21 August 1945 – 8 November 2006; age 61) was an Emmy-award winning composer of soundtracks such as The Hunt for Red October (1990, with Ronald Guttman, Gates McFadden, Daniel Davis, Timothy Carhart, and Boris Lee Krutonog), Free Willy (1993, with Lori Petty and Richard Riehle), Conan the Barbarian (1982), RoboCop (1987, with Ronny Cox, Robert DoQui, Miguel Ferrer, Kurtwood Smith, Peter Weller and Ray Wise) and Starship Troopers (1997, with Dina Meyer, Clancy Brown, Christopher Curry, Lenore Kasdorf and Brenda Strong). He appeared as a background extra in several episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series
Among Poledouris's uncredited roles during the 1960s was an appearance in a film written by Gene L. Coon, titled First to Fight. Aside from Coon, several other faces from behind-the-scenes on Star Trek were involved with the film, including: Fred Steiner, Phil Adams, Chuck Courtney, Eddie Hice, Chuck O'Brien, and Jerry Summers. Ronnie Rondell, Jr. also appeared in the film.
