For the similarly named Klingon rank, please see Bekk.

Bek was a prylar of the Bajoran religion during the Occupation of Bajor. During the time of the Kendra Valley Massacre he was the liaison for the Vedek Assembly and the Occupational Government. Two days after the massacre, Bek hanged himself on the Promenade of Terok Nor and claimed in his suicide note that he gave the Cardassians the location of the resistance fighters in the Kendra Valley.

In actuality, the information was provided by Kai Opaka, and Bek hanged himself to protect the truth about Kai Opaka's involvement. (DS9: "The Collaborator")

Bek was played by Tom Villard.
He was named as a homage to Donald R. Beck, who produced promotional preview commercials for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager, as well as numerous Star Trek documentaries. (Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 75); Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion (p. 148))
The character also appears in the Star Trek: Terok Nor novel Dawn of the Eagles, which dated the Kendra Valley Massacre to 2368.
