The Berengarius system was an inhabited planetary system in Federation space. The inhabited M-class planet Berengaria VII was located in this system. As of the 24th century, this planet held a similar importance and significance as other core Federation planets, such as Vulcan, Andor, and perhaps even Earth. (DS9: "In the Cards"; ENT: "Bound")

The Berengarius system was first explored by a Vulcan survey team in the early 2100s.

In December 2154, Enterprise NX-01 was assigned to the Berengarius system to scout for suitable planets on which the first of a series of proposed starbases could be built. Berengaria VII was a potential candidate. (ENT: "Bound")

The location of Berengaria VII was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country production art)

In 3191, this system's location was labeled on a star chart. (DIS: "Red Directive")

According to Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Berengaria system, an alternate name for this system, was a binary system with a pair of M-class stars.
In the entry "Berengaria VII" in the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 78), Berengarius was identified as the primary of this system.
