For the Earth city, please see Berkeley, California. For the similarly named 24th-century Starfleet lieutenant, please see Reginald Barclay.

Lieutenant Berkeley was a male Human Starfleet officer in the 23rd century. He served aboard the USS Enterprise in 2266 under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, during the historic five-year mission. He was one of the ship's transporter chiefs.

That same year, Berkeley was operating the transporter console when the landing party returned from the planet M-113. He promised to bring Sturgeon home, after his body was found on the planet's surface. As well, he was seen in a corridor wearing a sciences division uniform. (TOS: "The Man Trap")

Later that year, Berkeley was operating the transporter console. He embarrassed himself in front of Kirk when he was unable to beam cargo to the Tantalus Penal Colony -- and unable to explain the problem until reminded that his destination was a penal colony. At that point, he remembered the security force field in place around such facilities. Kirk advised Berkeley to refamiliarize himself with the manual on penal colony procedures. When research material destined for the Central Bureau of Penology in Stockholm was beamed aboard the ship, Berkeley left the transporter room to get a vault assignment. (TOS: "Dagger of the Mind")

Berkeley was portrayed by actor Larry Anthony.
