Brian Boru was an Irish king from the 11th century on Earth. Dubbed the High King of Ireland, he was killed in battle with Vikings in 1014 at the Battle of Clontarf.

Miles O'Brien often stated he could trace his family tree back to Boru, whom he would play as in the holodeck. (DS9: "The Bar Association")
