Template:Realworld Template:2008spoiler Brian J. Pohl is the co-owner and Chief Executive Officer of Persistence of Vision Digital Entertainment (POV), founded by David Dozoretz. As such, he is serving as previs supervisor under Dozoretz on 2008's Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams.
Pohl graduated college with a degree in Broadcast Design, after which he served a stint in the United States Army. Upon completion of his military service, Pohl formed his own design firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This ultimately led to his moving to Los Angeles, where he began working as a previsualization effects artist on feature films.
Pohl met David Dozoretz while working as previs animators on the 2001 film Behind Enemy Lines. The two then worked together on Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, after which Pohl was hired by Industrial Light & Magic. As part of ILM, Pohl was a previs artist for such films as Men in Black II, K-19: The Widowmaker (from Paramount Pictures), Hulk (starring Eric Bana), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (featuring David Andrews, Earl Boen and Kristanna Loken), and Van Helsing.
When ILM's art department underwent restructuring, Pohl moved on to Digital Domain, where he was lead previs artist on the films I, Robot (featuring James Cromwell and Bruce Greenwood) and Stealth. He then served as a layout technical director on the animated film Open Season before joining the ranks of POV.
