Calder II was the inhabited second planet in the Calder system. This system was located in Sector 2158, a region of space in the Beta Quadrant.

In the 24th century, there was a historical preserve containing ancient Sakethan burial mounds, a site that was associated with ancient Romulan artifacts.

By 2370, Calder II was the location of a small Federation science station with limited defensive capabilities. The outpost and the ruins were protected by a type four deflector shield.

Picard (as Galen) claimed to have attempted to smuggle a Sakethan glyph stone out of there in 2368, but to have barely escaped due to the outpost having at least two phaser banks and possibly photon torpedos. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I")

This planet's quadrant of origin is inferred based on the position of its star ssytem as seen in the star chart appearing in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".
