Doctor Carter was the chief medical officer aboard the USS Exeter, under the command of Captain Ronald Tracey. In 2268, Carter made the last log entry found prior to the death of the Exeter's crew following the their exposure to a bacteriological disease, native to Omega IV, that was brought aboard by the unimmunized landing party. (TOS: "The Omega Glory")
