Provisional Category[]
Support - it looks fine to me.– Cleanse 11:51, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Support, but I think it should be a subcat of Spacecraft, not Starship classes, as escape pods are generally not designed to travel long distances.--31dot 12:00, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Good catch. In any case, it should certainly NOT be a sub-cat of Category:Spacecraft classifications, as that contains types of ships(eg. scout, science vessel), not classes.– Cleanse 12:09, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment: Shouldn't be in "starships." Those are for particular "named" starships. This might be "Starship classes" rather than "classifications" though. I'm not entirely convinced. -- Sulfur 12:21, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- The name should probably be simply "Escape pods" rather than "Escape pod classes", don't you think? -- Renegade54 16:38, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, the 'classes' should be left off.--31dot 17:05, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- This does mix classes and specific ones though. I still don't think that "Spacecraft" is the correct category above, if we're going to list "classes" of escape pods. -- Sulfur 17:09, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Another option is to leave things the way they were before, when they were categorized as shuttlecraft, I think. I could accept such a categorization.--31dot 17:23, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Category tree from the point of view of "a single ship" and "a single ship class" without getting into too many subcategories should theoretically go as follows:
- Category:Spacecraft = "List of individually named/unnamed spacecraft" (i.e. SS Botany Bay) – that do not qualify for the following:
Category:Escape pods= (Probably not needed)- Category:Shuttles = "List of individually named/unnamed shuttles"
- Category:Starships = "List of individually named/unnamed shuttles"
- Category:Probes = "List of individually named/unnamed probes."

- Category:Spacecraft classes = "List of individual classes of spacecraft" (i.e. DY-100 class) – that do not qualify for the following:

- Category:Shuttle classes = "List of individual classes of (Federation) shuttles"
- Category:Escape pod classes = "List of individual classes/types of escape pods"
- Category:Probe classes = "List of individual classes/types of probes."

- If we followed established form, this category should not go to Category:Spacecraft, and it, along with the other "classes" categories, should follow suit with the "named ships" category, and go into the red link category. --Alan 21:05, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
