Ok, what about (technology) then? --[[User:Bp|bp]] 19:18, October 11, 2014 (UTC)

Couldn't these all be in-universe POV?

If these files were just named/described differently, they could all be in-universe recordings of things. It doesn't seem like they should be in a sub-category of Category:Memory Alpha audio files (production). --bp 02:22, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

But they aren't named or described with an in-universe POV, nor do I think they are even used all that well in-universe either. That, and when I was breaking down the audio category a RW "sound effects" sub made the most sense to me, is why they ended up where they are. I suppose they could be changed to make them in-universe, but I don't think we should keep the name of the category if they are. - Archduk3 05:35, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

Right, I don't think the category is needed. They could all be in the regular audio category. They are all technically used in an in-universe article and section, but, yeah, they could be reworked a little. I can see what you were thinking. The red alerts are all currently described from an in-universe pov. The phaser and transporter descriptions need to be rewritten, which is easy except there was no source episode given by the original uploader. Most files will need to be moved to different titles.

Red alert
File:Ds9 defiant red alert.ogg,File:Ds9 station red alert.ogg,File:Runabout red alert.ogg,File:TNG Red Alert.ogg,File:Voyager Red alert.ogg
Phaser
File:Phaser.ogg
Transporter
File:Dematerialize VOY.ogg

Anyway, I think the idea of the encyclopedia is that its primarily in-universe, though, so I would say it is worth trying to fix.--bp 07:47, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

...

I've changed the descriptions and reworked the articles, all that is needed is to move the files, remove the "(sound effects)" from each category string, then delete the category. --bp 08:25, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

The end goal is to not have any audio files in the "top" category, but rather to have all the files in subcategories, like the image categories, so putting these back there is less than desirable. - Archduk3 08:00, October 11, 2014 (UTC)
