Chad Allen (born 5 June 1974; age 49) is an openly gay actor who portrayed Jono, otherwise known as Jeremiah Rossa, in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Suddenly Human." He is perhaps best known for playing Matthew Cooper on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman for 6 years. He has also appeared on Punky Brewster, Hunter, Airwolf, NYPD Blue, and Cold Case.
He also played Tommy Westphall, the autistic son of Dr. Donald Westphall, on St. Elsewhere, which co-starred Norman Lloyd, Ronny Cox, Ed Begley, Jr., Kavi Raz, and France Nuyen. In the final episode it was revealed that the entire series never happened as it was merely a figment of young Tommy's imagination.
