Chang (TAC Officer)

Lieutenant Chang

TAC Officer Chang was a Starfleet officer of Asian descent in the 24th century.

In 2364, he held the rank of lieutenant and was posted to Relva VII. Among his duties was overseeing the Starfleet Academy entrance exam. He told Wesley Crusher, Oliana Mirren, T'Shanik, and Mordock that were all top candidates, but only one will enter the Academy that round, and although the test would be challenging, he wished them the best.

Chang also supervised another part of the test when Wesley and Rondon got into a confrontation in the hallway, congratulating Wesley for handling the situation well. He also praised Mordock for being the second fastest ever on a different portion of the exam, but was aware that Wesley helped the young Benzite with the test. He explained to Wesley the nature of his psych test after the candidate went through it.

In the end, he announced that Mordock was the winner, noting that Wesley's help to Mordock was not the only difference between them. (TNG: "Coming of Age")

The title TAC officer was not used in any subsequent episodes.
