Chris Ayers (born 19 July 1975; age 48) is a concept artist who worked as a character designer on Star Trek under department head Neville Page. [1]

Ayers moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles in 2000. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Communications from the St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. He also attended the Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy, the Academy of Communication Arts in Bloomington, Minnesota, and The Animation Academy in Burbank, California.

Ayers has worked for several companies, including Pacific Vision, Cinovation Studios, Spectral Motion, Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc., and Rhythm & Hues. Among his credits are character designs for films such as Evolution (2001); Men in Black II (2002); the fantasy film The Cat in the Hat (2003); Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003); Scary Movie 3 (2003); Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007); and the Marvel Comics adaptations Fantastic Four (2005), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006, starring Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, and Kelsey Grammer), and Iron Man (2008, featuring Bill Smitrovich and Faran Tahir).

More recently, he was a concept designer on the Marvel Comics adaptation The Incredible Hulk (2008) and a character designer on the upcoming action film Jonah Hex (2010).

In 2005 he was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, a form of blood cancer, but was successfully treated. During this time he created "The Daily Zoo", an animal sketchbook with a foreword by J.J. Abrams, published in November 2008 by Design Studio Press. [2] A second volume was planned for a 2009 release. Ayers previously worked as illustrator and designer for the books Worlds: A Mission of Discovery (2004), Alien vs. Predator: The Creature Effects of ADI (2004), Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem – Inside the Monster Shop (2007), and Cosmic Motors: Spaceships, Cars, and Pilots of Another Galaxy (2007).
