Dr. Chris Dows is a British academic and comic book, non-fiction and science fiction author. His connection with Star Trek started in 1993 with the publication of 5 issues of Malibu Comics' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine line along with his writing partner Colin Clayton. Since that time, Chris has worked extensively for Star Trek, being a major contributor to The Official Star Trek Fact Files for which he wrote over 600 articles. Many of these were reprinted in The Star Trek Magazine in the United States, and went on to contribute a range of materials to StarTrek.com. Since 2003, Chris has regularly contributed to various iterations of the Star Trek Magazine with his Treknology column being one of the longest running regular features in the publication. It continues with his work for Star Trek Explorer magazine, which also includes several of his unique short stories which have also been featured in Star Trek Explorer presents: Star Trek 'Q and False' and other stories, and Star Trek Explorer presents: 'The Mission' and other stories.

In addition to his Star Trek work, Chris worked for Games Workshop's Black Library Press for over a decade, has published two novels - the YA adventure Panthea, second world war drama Lokomotive, and a collection of his own science fiction and fantasy short stories Cherry Blossom Headshot. He is currently an Associate Professor at the UK's University of Lincoln where he teaches on the Masters in Creative Writing, supervises PhD postgraduates and is Programme Leader of the BA Creative Writing degree.
