The IKS Rotarran on convoy duty

A convoy was a group of vehicles or ships traveling together for mutual support. Often, a convoy was attended by one or more escort vessels were assigned, as convoy duty, for additional defense.

In 2153, a convoy of four Triannon vessels, commanded by Ceris, attacked Enterprise NX-01, at that point controlled by Triannon under the command of D'Jamat. (ENT: "Chosen Realm")

In an alternate timeline, when Earth was destroyed in 2154, most of the Human population existed in a handful of convoys that went searching for new colony worlds. One of those convoys was destroyed by the Xindi in the Mutara system. Another, which included both the Intrepid and Enterprise, settled on Ceti Alpha V in the early 2160s. (ENT: "Twilight")

This convoy is the only one which appears in "Twilight". In the final draft script of that episode, the convoy was described as "a flotilla of about a dozen ragged-looking Earth ships: freighters, transports, two older Starfleet vessels."

In 2368, a convoy of Romulan ships crossed the Klingon-Romulan border to supply the House of Duras for the Klingon Civil War, but was ultimately ordered back to Romulan territory when discovered by Starfleet. (TNG: "Redemption II")

After the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole in 2369, convoys of ships occasionally traveled from Deep Space 9 to the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9: "Captive Pursuit")

In 2372, the USS Voyager contacted a Vidiian convoy in order to get in touch with Danara Pel. (VOY: "Resolutions")

In late 2373, five Jem'Hadar convoys passed through the wormhole in as many weeks from the Gamma Quadrant bringing troops and ships to the Cardassian Union. Before the sixth convoy, Starfleet decided to mine the entrance to the wormhole, even though this could provoke a war with the Dominion. In response, Weyoun 5 proposed to limit the convoys to cargo ships, construction units and other civilian aid. However, Starfleet continued to mine the entrance and the Dominion attacked Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Call to Arms")

In early 2374, the IKS Rotarran escorted a convoy of several Klingon cargo vessels, including the IKS Par'tok, to Donatu V. Prior to this, three convoys to Donatu V had been destroyed by the Jem'Hadar. (DS9: "Sons and Daughters")

Later that year, the USS Defiant was assigned to protect a Federation troop convoy carrying over 30,000 Federation troops. The convoy had used the Badlands to hide their movements, and required the Defiant to protect them once they emerged. (DS9: "Waltz")

The Defiant remained on convoy duty and later successfully accompanied the freighter convoy PQ-1 to the Vegan system in 2374. Kasidy Yates served as convoy liaison officer. On the way home, they picked up Captain Lisa Cusak's distress signal. (DS9: "The Sound of Her Voice")

Following the First Battle of Chin'toka, the Defiant was assigned to protect more convoys, some containing self-sealing stem bolts. (DS9: "Image in the Sand")
