Cormaline was a relatively common mineral mined on many planets. Worlds with rich cormaline deposits included Kabrel II in the Alpha Quadrant, Torga IV in the Gamma Quadrant, and Ocampa in the Delta Quadrant.
The Kazon-Ogla maintained a cormaline mining camp on Ocampa, and exchanged the mineral with other Kazon sects. (VOY: "Caretaker")
In 2373, Starfleet sent a team from Deep Space 9 to Torga IV to investigate the possibility of mining the planet's rich deposits. Jadzia Dax discovered that the cormaline was only a few hundred meters below the surface and appeared to be the richest vein of cormaline she had ever seen.
