Cromwell

Cromwell was the launch director of McKinley Rocket Base in the late 1960s.

In 1968, he was responsible for the first launch of an orbital platform by the USA. Shortly before launch, he inspected the rocket together with Colonel Jack Nesvig. When the rocket's course was altered by Gary Seven, Cromwell unsuccesfully ordered to bring it back under control and then to self-destruct it. When it seemed that the rocket (now with armed nuclear warheads) would impact in Asia, Cromwell called the U.S. President to inform him of a possible World War III, which fortunately did not happen.
