"I am only for D'Amato."
"Lucky D'Amato.
"
– Losira and D'Amato, shortly before the former killed the latter, 2268 ("That Which Survives")

Lieutenant D'Amato was a male Human Starfleet officer who lived during the mid-23rd century. He served in the sciences division aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk, during a historic five-year mission that starship undertook. He served as the ship's senior geologist in 2268.

That same year, D'Amato was among a landing party that investigated an ancient Kalandan outpost, giving D'Amato the opportunity to explore a planet that was only a couple of thousand years old. According to Kirk, the potential discoveries could enable D'Amato to give a report startling the Fifth Interstellar Geophysical Conference.

D'Amato was later killed by a projection of the planet's defense system while searching for an underground water source. Captain Kirk tried to dig a grave, but couldn't due to the planet's unique geological makeup. Instead, he made a grave of stones to bury D'Amato. (TOS: "That Which Survives")
