D'Artagnan was the protagonist of Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers. He was a talented swashbuckler who fought for his honor, for his queen, and for his country.

In the 22nd century, a beagle dog was named after this character. He was the brother of Porthos, Captain Jonathan Archer's pet. (ENT: "A Night in Sickbay")

In 2266, Sulu, under the influence of polywater intoxication, assaulted the USS Enterprise bridge. When Uhura, who he had attempted to protect from harm escaped, upon seeing Kirk, Sulu exclaimed "Richelieu, at last" and that he fought for "honor, queen, and France." Then, together, Kirk and Spock restrained and pacified Sulu. Spock then ordered two crewmen to "Take D'Artagnan here to sickbay." (TOS: "The Naked Time")

This fictional character was based loosely on the life of Charles Ogier de Batz de Castelmore, Comte d'Artagnan, a military official in the court of Louis XIV.
