Daniel Curry (Captain)

Daniel Curry was a prolific Starfleet officer in the 23rd and 24th century, who worked in many of the top Starfleet agencies and was involved in the commissioning of some of the most famous Starfleet starships.

In 2293, he was part of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers staff who worked on the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) (Star Trek Generations)

In 2354, he was stationed at Starbase 32, where his office was in room 35882. (TNG: "Violations")

When he worked for Starfleet Operations, he was involved in the commissioning of the USS Pasteur (NCC-58925). (TNG: "All Good Things...")

By 2363, Curry achieved the rank of Captain and was in charge of Starfleet Research & Development. Part of his duties involved the commissioning of the USS Phoenix (NCC-65420) on stardate 40250. (TNG: "The Wounded")

Later that year, Curry was a member of the Warp Technologies Development Group in charge of the commissioning of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) on stardate 40759. (TNG: "Evolution")

WTDG is probably a division of Starfleet Research and Development.

In 2367, Curry was involved in the commissioning of the USS Sutherland (NCC-72015). He was still involved in Research & Development as of stardate 44820. (TNG: "Redemption II")

This is the last reference to his rank of Captain.

By 2370, Curry had transferred to Starfleet Tactical, and was involved in the commissioning of the USS Defiant (NX-74205) on stardate 47538, the USS Voyager (NCC-74656) on stardate 48038, the USS Valiant (NCC-74210) on stardate 49456.5, the USS Prometheus (NX-59650) on stardate 50749.5, and the USS São Paulo (NCC-75633) on stardate 52889.3.

His name appeared also in the USS Voyager crew manifest in 2371. (VOY: "Projections")

Background

• Daniel Curry's career can be traced to a few mentions on dedication plaques and other okudagrams seen in many Star Trek episodes.

• According to his high rank, we must assume that he wasn't aboard the USS Voyager when it was stranded in the Delta Quadrant. He may have been assigned aboard during the construction or test phase of the ship. Another explanation could be that the crew manifest was deliberately falsified in order to disturb aliens who tries to scan the database or board the ship, which could explain the use of the people on the dedication plaque with ranks that obviously are doubtful.
