David Gibbs (16 August 195310 February 2013; age 59)[1] was a pilot and aerial coordinator who worked on Star Trek: Insurrection, directed by Jonathan Frakes.

In addition to his work on Star Trek, he worked on a variety of movies and television shows, as an actor, stunt pilot, and aerial coordinator including Afterburn (1992), Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace (1996, with Matt Frewer), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), The Jackal (1997), The Replacement Killers (1998), LIt Came from the Sky (1999, with Christopher Lloyd), the action film Firetrap (2001, with Lori Petty), Blow (2001), and Reno 911!: Miami (2007). Among his work as helicopter pilot and aerial coordinator are Wishman (1992), The Protector (1997, starring Matt McColm), Steel Sharks (1997), V.I.P. (2000), The Hollywood Sign (2001, with Jacqueline Kim), Gale Force (2002), The Sweetest Thing (2002, with Chelsea Bond), Jackass 3D (2010), and the reality shows Hell's Kitchen, The Biggest Lose, and The Amazing Race.

Gibbs died on 10 February 2013 on location at the Polsa Rosa Ranch in Acton, California in a helicopter crash while on assignment for the Discovery Channel reality show The Amazing Race. [2] [3]
