Deep Space 4, informally called DS4, was a Federation deep space station in service with Starfleet during the 24th century. It was located in the Beta Quadrant. (PIC: "Disengage")

For his investigation of the ancient humanoids' DNA puzzle in 2369, Professor Galen planned to travel from the USS Enterprise-D to Deep Space 4 on a Vulcan transport, and from there gain passage to Caere on an Al-Leyan transport. (TNG: "The Chase")

Captain Kathryn Janeway on the USS Voyager, while searching for information on Seven of Nine in 2374, could only find a single entry on the Hansen family, in DS4's database. (VOY: "The Gift")

Deep Space 4 was shut down in 2400. Unaware of this, the following year Admiral Jean-Luc Picard claimed to Captain Liam Shaw of the USS Titan-A that their proposed, unscheduled excursion to the Ryton system would be followed by a final engineering inspection at DS4. This confirmed Shaw's suspicion that he was being deceived. (PIC: "The Next Generation")

In "The Chase", the location of Deep Space 4 was pointed out by Richard Galen from a star chart of the Milky Way Galaxy.

In the episode "Disengage", the location of this deep space station was seen on the bridge of the SS Eleos XII on what appears to be an updated chart from Star Trek: Star Charts. Dave Blass published pictures of the set on his website.
