The Deneb system was an inhabited star system in Federation space. This system was in the Alpha Quadrant (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before", TNG: "Conspiracy") The Denebian slime devil and Denebian whale were two of the many lifeforms which lived in this system. (DS9: "A Man Alone", "The Nagus"; TAS: "The Ambergris Element")
In 2364, the starship USS Enterprise-D visited the system to investigate the construction history of the first Farpoint Station. (TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint")
