Derata was a game played on a wooden game board with sixteen holes and different shaped pieces: light, dark, square, round, and hollow. It is a two player game, and when it is one players turn the other player chooses the piece they have to use. It is very similar, if not the exact same as Quarto.

Derata was often played by Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres. Paris favored an opening known as The Novakovich Gambit, and believed Derata was a game of subtly. (VOY: "Night")
