01 EMERGENCY TURBO

The emergency turbolift was a special turbolift aboard Galaxy-class starships. It was an express turbolift connecting the main bridge and the battle bridge.

In 2364, Data, Yar, Counselor Troi, and Captain Picard used the the emergency turbolift to travel to the battle bridge shortly before separating the saucer at warp while the USS Enterprise-D was being chased by Q. (TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint")

In 2365, while aboard a facsimile of the USS Yamato, Worf attempted to access the emergency turbolift on the main bridge, but opening the door only led back to the same bridge. (TNG: "Where Silence Has Lease")

In 2367, Lt. Commander Data pretended to head for the emergency turbolift while Captain Picard went to turbolift 2 and Commander Riker went to turbolift 1 when the bridge was being evacuated due to life support system failure. (TNG: "Brothers")

In 2369, two thieves posing as engineers from Arkaria Base exited from the emergency turbolift while the Enterprise-D was being prepared to undergo a baryon sweep at the Remmler Array. (TNG: "Starship Mine")

The emergency turbolift was only used in a handful of episodes, and the interior was only seen twice in "Encounter at Farpoint" and "Starship Mine". The emergency turbolift set piece was later redressed as the USS Defiant's turbolift in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
