Eric burton

Eric Burton.

Eric Burton was a civilian member of the USS Enterprise-D crew, born in 2358. (TNG: "Masks", "Firstborn")

In 2370, Iyaaran Ambassador Loquel encountered Eric while on a tour of the Enterprise conducted by Counselor Deanna Troi. Loquel was amazed by Eric, as the Iyaarans were born fully grown and he had never seen a child before. Loquel invited Eric to have dessert with him, as sweets and other confections were also foreign to the Iyaarans. (TNG: "Liaisons")

Eric attended school aboard the Enterprise and was in Mrs. Narsu's class. His classroom was visited by Counselor Troi in 2370. The children were working on clay sculptures, and Troi was present to help them focus on the feelings they wanted to convey with the sculpture. Eric tried to create a bird, but did not feel his attempt was entirely successful. Troi encouraged Eric by asking him what he thought when he saw a bird, which was flying, and then telling him to make his sculpture embody that idea. Later, Eric was working at a computer console in the classroom and discovered D'Arsay symbols floating about his program. (TNG: "Masks")

Eric was a friend of Alexander Rozhenko. In 2370, the pair made fullerenes in chemistry class, filled them with water, and chased each other back to Alexander's quarters. When they arrived, Eric accidentally hit Worf with one of the fullerenes. He then made a hasty departure. (TNG: "Firstborn")

Background Information

Eric was played by Rickey D'Shon Collins.

According to the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, Eric's first name was derived from a nephew of Brannon Braga. His last name, possibly a homage to LeVar Burton, was established in the script for "Firstborn" and was not spoken in dialog.

The script for "Masks" states Eric was twelve at the time of the episode, suggesting a birth year of 2358.
