In the novel Dangerous Ground, Fairbridge was a fictional country village located in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Compared to an apartment in New York City, there was less privacy in this community, and people were much more acutely aware of their neighbors comings and goings. Many of the houses were built in the Victorian era. The house of Frederricka Wilson was located at the far end of town. The principal street was Main Street. Doctor John Rawley, the protagonist of the story, came to Fairbridge to live the quiet life of a country Doctor. One of the people he comes to know in the town, Serena Wilson, was later implicated in the murder of her husband. (TNG: "The Big Goodbye")

The pages seen in the episode were from the mystery novel, Dangerous Ground, by author Frances Sil Wickware. This novel was published in 1946. Information on Fairbridge was from pages 12-13, 46, 72-73.
