The species of some felinoid characters, such as this one portrayed by Linda Fetters in Star Trev V, is not known. It max be that Draylaxians are also felinoid. Or she may be one of the Kzinrretti.
The term felinoid is descriptive of a species that evolved from feline origins, and retain cat-like physical traits as opposed to primates, who followed a primate evolutionary pattern, or insectoids, who are descended from insects.
There are four known species that are felinoids:
- Caitians, (TAS)
- Kzinti, (TAS: "The Slaver Weapon")
- Vedalans (TAS: "The Jihad")
- Lyrans (Starfleet Battles race distantly related to the Kzinti)
The word "felinoid" has not been mentioned on screen, but has been used in various background and production materials.
