A flashback is a moment in a novel, film or television series that shows events that took place in the past. Several Star Trek episodes have featured flashbacks.
Flashbacks were used in several episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Notable flashbacks

Data recounts the events in which the crew were incapacitated. (TNG: "Clues")
Suspicions
Dr. Crusher recounts to Guinan the events that led to her temporarily losing her position on the Enterprise. (TNG: "Suspicions"
Necessary Evil
Odo recounts the events where he first became Constable of Terok Nor and met Kira Nerys and Quark in a flashback. He had been asked by Gul Dukat to investigate the murder of Vaatrik, a Bajoran chemist. (DS9: "Necessary Evil")
Rules of Engagement
During Worf's trial, the crew recount the events that led to the destruction of a Klingon civilian transport. In the flashbacks, the characters talk directly to the camera, although they are actually talking to Advocate Ch'Pok. (DS9: "Rules of Engagement")
Hard Time
Flashbacks are used to show Miles O'Brien's time in an Argrathi "prison". These events were all created in his mind by the Argrathi scientists. O'Brien recalls meeting Ee'char, drawing Eseekas and spending many years in the prison. (DS9: "Hard Time")
