A force field box is a small, intensely strong container designed to hold highly volatile substances for short periods of time.
In 2269 Montgomery Scott transported a piece of anti-matter from the body of the Cosmic cloud into a force field box in order to release it into the Enterprise's antimatter engine and recharge it. (TAS: "One of Our Planets is Missing")
