To get the ball rolling...from IRC...

A few of us were discussing the recent influx of edits to the Doctor Who page and the discussion turned towards the necessity of that page, Science fiction references in Star Trek and Star Trek parodies and pop culture references.

With regards to the latter page. It seems that everyone is in agreement that the page is horrible.

A couple of us think that we should trim the references page and make real world articles with the ones that have a large # of references like Doctor Who, Futurama, Simpsons and so forth. For those without a huge list of references just a redirect would suffice. A category would definitely be necessary for this, as well as a naming scheme as to not conflict with in-universe articles. What does the community think about how we should handle this? — Morder 13:10, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

I say make it so. The Doctor Who page has turned out quite well in my opinion, and it would be neater to have separate pages on the major franchises than shoving them on the same mega-page. Star Wars and Buckaroo Banzai should also get a page; they're both referenced quite a lot. Of course, we'd have to make sure the first one doesn't descend into "vs." stupidity.
I don't know what you mean by a naming scheme, since I don't see anything that conflicts with the main namespace. If they do, we can disambiguate like normal, with the Star Trek page getting precedence of course.– Cleanse 10:40, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

I just imagined that there would be someone named Fraiser at some point...and figured Frasier (TV Series) or something might make sense. — Morder 16:30, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Seems like this only covers TV and Movies, and not the music and literature pages. I'm still not clear on what would happen to the "smaller" shows and movies, but it seems like a good idea for the "bigger" shows/movies. - Archduk3:talk 20:32, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I'd say: give full pages to the ones with lots of references to Trek and ones with lots of references to them in Trek, leave that one for smaller shows and links to the other pages. --Golden Monkey 21:32, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
