Curious to know how holodeck time is shared amongst the crew members on the Enterprise? Was it ever discussed? – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.18.101.241.

On Voyager I think there were some references to booking or reserving time in advance. It wasn't really mentioned on TNG; people just seemed to show up and a holodeck was free. On DS9 Quark owned the holosuites so users had to rent them from him. 31dot (talk) 11:46, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

I seem to remember a character talking about holodeck "rations" which would imply each member of the crew got a certain amount of time in the holodeck per day/month/year. I think that was in Voyager aswell though so it may not have been standard Starfleet practice. I think there was at least one Voyager episode where The Doctor gave up his time to someone else(Tom Paris I think) but I don't recall which episode that was. 31dot (talk) 03:50, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

Voyager also had the Fair Haven program which had the 'open door policy' as it was on all the time(for awhile). Quark also allowed Vic Fontaine's program to run all the time at one point for people to visit at will. The woodland program seen in "Encounter at Farpoint" also seemed to be frequently used by many crewmembers(which was alluded to). 31dot (talk) 03:53, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

On one TNG episode Riker asks the computer which holodeck is free. I can't remember which.Lt.Lovett (talk) 19:58, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
