Hey, all. Quick question. When writing in quotes, and attributing them to a person, when listing that person with a rank or title, do we use the rank or title at the time of the quote or the rank or title when we last see them. Example: William T. Riker said in Star Trek: Insurrection "Smooth as an androids' bottom, eh Data?" He was a commander at the time, but by the end of Star Trek Nemesis he was a captain. - If we use the title, it should be at the time we see them. Otherwise we would have to give quotes of Nog when he was just a random Ferengi kid making trouble "Lt. JG", and Worf would be using ranks from 10 years after the quotes happened. Wouldn't make much sense. Use what they were when the quote happened. --OuroborosCobra talk 14:51, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
