Do any of you know of any explanation for why it appears to start with number 101? (Well, 103, with the Encounter at Farpoint being back-coded) A friend of mine has noticed that, on Netflix, they are numbered in production order, and that the first one is labeled 101. His hypothesis was that it was done to seem as a continuation of the original series, or at least to avoid running into having the same number. —Commodore Sixty-Four(TALK) 04:07, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

Season 1, Episode 01 = 101. - Archduk3 04:24, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
TNG episodes started with 101 so as to distinguish them from TOS episodes. For a similar reason, they decided to start with 401 for DS9 so as to not overlap with TNG.– Cleanse ( talk | contribs ) 04:42, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
