I recall a scene (don't remember from what series or movie) where two folks are chatting about the past, and one remarks something like, "Hundreds of countries? No wonder they call it the age of confusion!"

Well, searching "age of confusion" doesn't turn up anything. Anyone remember the scene I'm talking about, or what exactly they called it?

Searching the online transcripts for the keywords "confusion" and "countries" doesn't turn up anything like what you're searching for. - Archduk3 03:48, October 5, 2014 (UTC)
Mystery solved. After quite a bit more googling, it turns out to have been from a William Shatner novel that I don't for the life of me remember reading. http://books.google.com/books?id=X2VwMzVQw6cC&pg=PA37&lpg=PA37&dq=%22One+planet+but+one+hundred+and+twenty+governing+bureaucracies%22&source=bl&ots=tEizFLG03h&sig=IldmLNeAdqWZsvLIlxoT7GNeByU&hl=en&sa=X&ei=reAwVIPnMMbIsATzw4LABg&ved=0CCAQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=%22One%20planet%20but%20one%20hundred%20and%20twenty%20governing%20bureaucracies%22&f=false
