There have been numerous shuttlecraft named Galileo in service with Starfleet. Because (unlike starships) multiple shuttlecraft with the same name can be in service at the same time, it is impossible to determine a precise number.

Named for the renowned astronomer and mathematician, Galileo Galilei.

Galileo (NCC-1701/7)

This shuttlecraft was assigned to the USS Enterprise in the 2260s. In 2267, the Galileo was forced to crash-land on Taurus II. Its crew were recovered by the Enterprise, but the shuttle itself was lost. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven")

Another Galileo of the same registry was used to transport the critically-ill Nancy Hedford from Epsilon Canaris II that same year. The shuttle was inexplicably pulled off course, and forced down on a planetoid in the Gamma Canaris system. {TOS: "Metamorphosis")

This Galileo was later lost following an encounter with a spaceborne amoeba-like creature on stardate 4307. (TOS: "The Immunity Syndrome")

The Galileo was also seen in "Journey to Babel" and "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield". Presumably, this, too, was a different Galileo.

"Galileo II"

Galileo 5

The Galileo (designated Shuttlecraft 5) was a shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Enterprise-A following its commissioning in 2287.

Galileo

This type-6 shuttlecraft was assigned to the USS Enterprise-D in 2363. It ferried Captain Picard to the Enterprise upon his assuming command of that vessel. (TNG: "All Good Things...")
